Hardball

Hardball by CD Reiss 200 pages

5 star review! There are no words to describe how good Hardball is – it’s that good! Just from reading the synopsis I couldn’t wait to read this book. As soon as teasers came out, including the first 3 chapter preview, I was hooked. Release day came and I spent the entire day anxious to get home, dinner made and the kids fed so I can dive into one of the most anticipated books (in my opinion) of the spring. The book didn’t disappoint. After 6 hours, a few interruptions to handle mom duties and a few hours past when I normally go to bed for the night I finished the book and was ready to start over from the beginning again. The book had some humor in it, a few baseball metaphors, a little heart ache and a lot of romance.  It’s the best book Christine has written so far and I can’t wait for the next one. The author’s synopsis is below, along with a few memorable quotes from the book.

““It’s the glove you love.” I smiled at my joke and like a dumbass at the same time. “You’re a poet” “I know it””

Vivian is a librarian at a low income school community in LA. She is a kind person, always putting the needs of others before hers and she’s a huge LA Dodgers fan. Dash, a baseball player for the LA Dodgers, is not your typical jock. He’s intelligent and kind, a gentleman through and through and not only does he know his way around a ball field but he knows how to make a woman come. Did I mention he likes to read and even quotes Shakespeare while trying to woo Vivian? The two meet when the school Vivian teaches at goes on a field trip to the stadium. She is collecting signatures of the team on a baseball as a gift for her father, when she reached Dash’s table for a signature he accused her of setting up the entire fieldtrip for her own personal gain. Vivian responded to his accusation with a witty comment “Thank you. If it was too much trouble to sign without an insult, you shouldn’t have bothered. My dad probably wouldn’t notice it was missing.” and left him, unknowingly, lusting after her. He can’t stop thinking about her, and she can’t stop thinking about him.

“I get it. Sometimes I’d like to put a cock in my mouth”

Author’s Synopsis below

Perfect ass.

Perfect arms.
Perfect swagger.
They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King.
He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom.
When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame.
I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.
Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times.
My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field.
But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me.
Until the night I do. And everything changes.
