RoomHate by Penelope Ward

All I can say is wow! What a Book! It was a page turner to the very last page. It's not my typical Romance novel with the steamy sex scenes but this book has other things going for it. You can relate with the characters on a personal level; they are real people with regular jobs not rich and famous billionaires or athletes. It feel's like you could be reading a story about your best friend, or your cousin. I don't read many books where as soon as I've finished I want to read the story again but this book is one of those books. I look forward to reading it again and again.

RoomHate is about 2 child hood friends who drifted apart from each other when they were fifteen and sixteen years old and they end up inheriting a house from Amelia's grandmother. Amelia had left Providence suddenly when she was 15 to live with her dad and never looked back. She left behind her best friend Justin, whom she loved but never told. Amelia, a middle school teacher, planned on spending the summer at this island house and hoped Justin wouldn't show up at all. After 2 weeks, just when she didn't think Justin would show, he showed up, but he wasn't alone. He was still angry at her for leaving all those years ago. Throughout the summer, Amelia's feelings for Justin started to resurface but he had a girlfriend so she refused to tell him.

The book was full of sexual frustration between Justin and Amelia. They end up admitting to each other that they each were in love with each other and start to realize those feelings are still there. This brings us to the end of the first summer together and Justin leaves to go back to New York with his girlfriend, Jade. Amelia, who found out she was 3 months pregnant heads back to Providence to her teaching job. Fast forward 8 months and Amelia moves back to the house on the island in May after giving birth to her baby girl, Bea, that March. She assumes she and Bea will have the house all to themselves for at least a month before Justin show's back up for the summer. They spend another great summer together and the attraction is stronger than ever. Just when they finally start to feel like a family and let their feelings for each other bring them together, Justin gets the opportunity of a life time to be the opening act on a 5 month long rock tour. Can their feelings for each other survive the 5 months? When Justin gets back will they finally be the family Amelia so desperately wants? Read the standalone novel RoomHate by Penelope Ward and find out for yourself.

Author synopsis from Amazon.ca

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?

Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.

When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.

The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.

The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.

The worst part? He didn’t come alone.

I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.

Author's note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
